2020, what a year, right?
2020 was the year we found out what everyone was made of. Politicians, people, and companies. My wife and I booked a trip to a Writers Conference in 2020. We booked it when Covid was just starting, but didn't seem like it was going to last through the entire year, and the trip was late in the year that we thought it would be good. So, for the first time, we decided to buy trip insurance. We looked it over, and it seemed like if something went wrong, we could fall on the insurance. We were wrong. We booked through Priceline, and the "insurance" was through a place called Trip Mate through the Priceline website. Well, it turned out the conference was canceled. We were able to get our money back on the conference and the hotel we book. However, when we tried to submit a claim for airfare, which was a bit complicated to figure out how to do so, we were denied. The truth comes out. Trip Mate is a joke, their insurance company is a scam, and they will not give you your money back. I'm extremely disappointed in the company, and disappointed with Priceline for recommending them. I plan to NEVER use Priceline or Trip Mate ever again, and will tell everyone to avoid them. 0/5 Stars. Everyone avoid. It is a SCAM! I went onto the Author Your Dream podcast and talked about plotting and planning to save time and get your book organized. Had a great chat with the host from across the pond. Give it a listen!

The Scales of Justice by Alex Rath
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Okay, so I've been on a Salvage Universe binge. This was the first book not by the main author that I've read. And I was wondering how it'd fit in and how good it would do. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. This was a great read! It's about this snake species. That's right, you heard me...SNAKES! No legs, just all tail baby! So, they're good guys. Well, they're like any species, filled with the good and the bad. And their planet is beginning to be unhospitable. They need help. Who can they turn to? Humans? Well, most humans are afraid of snakes...especially massive ones that stand on tails taller than humans. YIKES! This is a great novel about working together, building relationships, and the bond that everyone in the universe shares. Freedom and survival. And lessons to be learned. You can be vulnerable. You can ask for help. You don't have to hold it all in. All great, valuable lessons. A few of us could really take some notes from some giant snakes! KC Johnston nails the narration out of the park! The audio book was done well. KC Johnston narrated everything in this series I believe, and he does a fantastic job with it. I definitely recommend the audio book! It has a lot of tools and customization from Characters, Locations, Plots, and Scenes. It syncs beautifully between devices through iCloud to use on Mac and iPads, as well as iPhone it says, though I do not have one to test. There is also an option to export into a beautifully formatted Microsoft Word Document or into Scrivener as well. I go through how it exports to Scrivener and the best way I've found to use the export feature, as well as setting it up in Scrivener for the most efficient writing. Visit https://storyplanner.app to find out more about the application. |
